my music taste is all over the place like I listen to country rap kpop metal you name it
SO SOME OF THESE RECS ARE LIKE well one you might already know them but also like they vary depending on what you’re into
like some pop-y stuff (I think???? it’s just kinda upbeat )
Magdalena bay, theyre synth pop, they did kill shot and recently I have been listening to their song how to get physical and it’s just so like wow
Aurora ave, they’re indie pop, pretty new, also from my home city 🤭, their main singer for their earlier couple of songs Dominique is so good but she went to japan to continue her studies, and their new lead singer Samara is also SO GOOD. Ugh that whole group is so talented
Kero kero bonito, another group you’ve already heard probably like their flamingo song, and imma be honest I personally do not like a lot of their discography but I DO specifically like swimming / open road and the song only acting
ZEPH. my friend has been the biggest zeph fan for years and i’m not really big on her but if you’re into kinda experimental hopeless romantic stuff you should deft check her out, also her twitter (hatsunemitski) is so fucking funny
Adam Melchor, I saw him live at the laufey concert the other day and he’s so funny like he’s so genuine and UGHH I CANT. His voice is also so angelic??? like??? sir???? probably my favorite opener I have ever heard, he also just released an ep which has some really great and sweet songs
Superfan, pop (?) psychedelic vibes idk, heard their song onetime in a starbucks and shazammed it LMAO, very cool, wish I had motivation to look into them more
Some more like Rnb lofi hip hop type stuff
Limbo, her song airplane mode really blew up in like 2020, such a banger, but the rest of her discography is also really good she’s definitely one of my fav feel good melancholy like idk romanticizing my life
Going to the exact opposite of her LMAO, freddie dredd also blew up on tiktok and goes viral every couple of years but his music is a little more loud and he uses a lot of portuguese samples (i think i knew the reason but i don’t remember maybe he’s brasiliano or portuguese??) anyways you may have probably already heard him but there are some good stuff from 2018-2019 that aren’t as popular too if that’s what you’re into I used to play him as like pump up music for my hockey games
Montell fish, very popular for good reason, his album her love still haunts me like a ghost is so good and goes really well together imo, like pretend lovers is a great interlude between songs on my playlists, very sexy music
ENTRO//, no lyrics for most of his music, but it’s all very cool lofi with jazz influences and I like to listen to it to chill yk and some of it can start to raise my energy but generally it’s like i’m not asleep but i’m not running laps
Okay so their name is Sorry and technically they are trip hop (a quote from them) but ngl this is a pretty broad category so they’re just going here too… I don’t really fw most of their music just hasn’t interested me to look further into them personally but their two most popular songs starstruck and cigarette packet are really cool
sad indie stuff
this group called loving, they’re kinda like idk their songs make me cry but they’re also kinda uplifting??? they like pull you outta that state ykwim, like stranger to yourself is the song I play after allat
leith ross, great voice, and I once fell asleep to their song we’ll never have sex, woke up the next morning and my friends texted me asking me why I had listened to it over 1000 times
Rap
Jayworthy, got recommended his song wait on you on spotify on one day and UGH I LOVE HIS SHIT, like it’s so cool and interesting and like I just ugh get the best feeling walking and listening to him
J-pop, now i’m not as into this category BUT
Chai, they opened for a mitski show I saw and they WERE SO COOL. They sample mario sound affects and shit and are just so fun and I got their vinyl at that show they’re just yeah very fun and cute
some stuff I listen to who are artists who are like on the radio all the time and stuff like just kinda self explanatory
Dominic fike
Cody Johnson
Rob Zombie
Erykah badu
There’s also more I just kinda don’t feel too motivated to write more and also I don’t know what you listen to so like yeah there’s a good chance you know all of these and if that’s the case i’d love to talk to you ab them anyways 💗
ALSO NOTE I GOT SUPER LAZY WITH MY GRAMMAR AND PUNCTUATION KINDA COULDNT DECIDE OR COMMITT TO ONE OR THEBOTHER
first of all im in love w you, THANK U FOR RECOMMENDING ME SO MUCH IM SO SERIOUS!!! i queued all of this while i was writing a paper actually! thoughts under the cut!!

Samara revitalized and reopened to the public: views of the living area.
Under administration of Indiana Landmarks and the John Christian Family Memorial Fund, the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Usonion house now boasts a full-time curator (Nathan) who likes to say it's not a house museum, it's a house that offers tours. And it still has the feeling about it that one could simply arrive with luggage and take up residence.

The Woodland Ave entrance, looking up toward the house.
A more full version of how Samara came about can be read elsewhere on this 'blog, but the condensed story is: the Christians didn't have a lot of money but were willing to keep going with Wright's design regardless of how long it took -- and it took decades.

Wright didn't like attics and basements, and so included storage everywhere, including under the long bench seat in the living room.
Some furnishings and exterior elements weren't part of the initial construction in the 1950s, but had to wait until the 1990s. Mr. Christian even created and patented a copper patination process so that new exterior copper would take on the appearance of copper cladding that had been in the weather for 40 years.

The copper details as seen above were added in the 90s, finishing touches to the design that had to wait for funding. New copper would have been too bright and, well, coppery, but Christian's patina added age in about a day.

The trouble Wright's designs face, even now, is time, gravity, and maybe a little architect's "overreach." Many of the forward-looking design elements that took Wright to prominence were thwarted in the long run because the materials chosen couldn't stand the years in the weather or the way they were installed couldn't stand up to the demand of actual use.

The patio beyond the living room.
Samara was found, after all the years, to be subsiding in several places, and much of the exterior woodwork was failing. Following Christian's death in 2015, efforts were begun to revitalize the structure to keep it viable into the future, which brought about the $1.6 million renovation, which began in May of 2022.
A few months back, Indiana Landmarks hosted a talk on historic preservation and renovation at West Lafayette's public library that included a look at the Samara work. A restorer from the Chicago firm engaged to the job described having to replace exterior beams (like those pictured above), install proper footings under walls, matching brick and mortar color to swap-out deteriorated bricks, and more, to make the house "better than new." The results garnered national recognition.

The longest views in the house: from the dining area to the living area (or vice-versa) at an angle, measuring close to 60 feet.

A Wright hallmark: the (apparently) unsupported corner, with glass.
As noted above, Samara now has a curator, and he likes to show-off what Wright designed. Besides the under-couch storage, for instance, many of the tables in the living area can be used as seating, while the block seats can stack -- or hide children's shoes:

The dining chairs, in a sneaky twist, require proper posture and alertness: a slouch (or someone nodding off) may find that the chair goes out-of-balance -- as the base has beveled corners (one of which is circled here):

The base does, however, include the nook under the seat, where small items might be kept.

In the master bedroom. The samara-inspired clerestory windows, like the one seen above the desk here, abound, allowing natural light into nearly every space. Some of them can be opened to allow for cross-ventilation.

Outside the bedrooms.
Nathan opined that the over-all project was about 98% done: a proper gate is wanted at the west end of the driveway (to replace the chain that is there now) and a bubbling goldfish pond outside the bedrooms that was never begun. He keeps his fingers crossed.

Darren Criss, Samara Weaving, and Laura Harrier on "passing" in Hollywood
Ryan Murphy’s Hollywood has gotten a lot of hype for its leering look at the sex lives of the film industry’s elite in the 1940s, but a lot of its storytelling also centers on issues of race and class in a Jim Crow America. While Hollywood might seem progressive from the exterior, it’s still a business concerned with selling product, and in the ‘40s in particular, that product had to be white, heterosexual, and relatively wholesome. The A.V. Club talked to three of Hollywood’s supporting stars, Darren Criss, Samara Weaving, and Laura Harrier, about what it meant to them to be a part of a show that talks about race in such a frank fashion, including if Darren Criss can identify with his character’s “passing” as white. Hollywood is streaming on Netflix now.

Note
there's also this specific phrasing Hammond uses, where she doesn't include herself and Samara in "everyone alive today"
(Hammond: Samara, myself, and eventually everyone alive today will be flushed out of existence.)
mmmhm although i still dont think thats what samara was referring to. its part of it but the Initial instance of her leaving her moms care and running away is what i still think she talked about

Ok but imagine a series where horror characters live in the same town and the teaser is Carrie singing a parody of Good Morning Baltimore
Carrie’s best friend is Samara in the Av club
Carrie starts to live with the nun because she thinks she can trust a woman of god
Carrie also tries to find a new place by visiting the Hotel from the Shining, Kayako’s apartment from air bnb and Elm St.
Carrie also makes money by babysitting which leads to watching Toshio from the Grudge, the kid from Babadook, the girl from Firestarter and meeting characters like Chuckie and Laurie Strode
Carrie could have character development and be an awkward hero without trying too hard
Building the characters wardrobes
Monster worldbuilding
Horror characters meeting
